Highlighting a friend of the foundation - Amanda Duke
I'm highlighting a dear friend and strong supporter of Zorya Foundation: Amanda Duke.
As a nurse turned mega boss chief revenue officer--Amanda understands how much #childcare support can impact the life of a frontline healthcare worker. She has always supported our efforts in any way she is able—she’s not just a donor, she’s a thought partner.
I was talking to her recently and shared we have more than 200 frontline healthcare workers, primarily from California, on our waitlist for childcare grants. Many of these applicants are in significant need—caring for not just their own children--some of whom face serious health concerns--but also aging parents. Most of them are single parents. Some are survivors of domestic violence. The need far exceeds our available unrestricted funding. Amanda was helping Emma Nelson and I brainstorm ways that we can help these mothers, giving us ideas for corporate donors and offering to make introductions.
But a few days later, Amanda surprised us by making a very generous personal donation to help these hardworking mothers. Because of her generosity, many women unexpectedly received grants very quickly and are able to take care of their families and rest a little easier.
Amanda Duke, thank you for being a hero to Zorya Foundation and so many hardworking nurses, community health workers, CNAs and other mothers working in frontline healthcare roles.
